When I first spoke with their billing department, the person could not explain the charges to me, nor how they were coordinating with my insurance. The person insisted on a flat fee up-front for my co-insurance, which was nearly twice the amount I paid for the same procedure at another surgery center in Austin just 5 months before! When I received their final bill, I called my insurance because I thought I was being over-billed for my co-iinsurance. My insurance representative agreed that Meridian's cost was very much higher than the facility for my previous surgery. My take away from this experience is ask questions and shop around for where you have your surgery performed. My previous surgery was performed through Texas Orthopedics surgery center; both facilities were great and the medical staff were very professional, caring and attentive. But the cost and billing personnel at Meridian left me feeling very disappointed in certain aspects of the medical profession.
