I went to Torrance Memorial Sleep Center for a sleep study. I called weeks in advance to discuss the procedure, ask about costs, and was told to check with my insurance company to see if they were 'in network.' They were. Two months later, I got a bill for $1,038.00. Most of it is a copay that I can't afford. They got paid through my insurance, but they still are billing me for over a thousand. I told the billing dept. I am not working. I also let them know I had inquired before the study, and nobody told me I'd end up with that kind of bill. They said maybe I could get financial assistance. The next day they said I couldn't, because "sleep studies don't qualify." The people in their billing dept. I spoke with are cold, uncaring, and inflexible. I wouldn't send my worst enemy there. I hardly slept at all during my 'study.' There's poor communication after the study too. My Doctor didn't get the results in a timely manner. Plus, they got an out of network Dr. to read the results. What do they care? I'm the one stuck with their bill.
